Staying at Schloss Mittersill means vacation in the heart of the country’s largest national park. The foundation was laid as early as 1913 by purchasing 1,100 hectares of land in the Amertal and the Stubachtal valleys, but it would take until the 1970s for the province governors of Salzburg, Carinthia and Tyrol to initiate the creation of the national park that was eventually founded in the 1980s. Together with the National Park Worlds in Mittersill it offers our guests a wonderful recreational area for leisurely walks and hikes, refreshing nature tours, and fascinating experiences: the National Park Hohe Tauern.

The National Park Worlds in Mittersill do an incredible job of displaying the truly unique alpine world around the Grossglockner, Austria's highest peak at 3,798 m, as well as another 266 mountains exceeding 3,000 m, 342 glaciers, and one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world, all under one roof. In eight adventure stations you are led from one nature area to another, as if on a hike through the national park, all the while learning and understanding more about its extraordinary diversity. Travelling from Schloss Mittersill to the National Park Center in the Eastern Alps only takes about a five-minute drive!
